The wines of Terra Alta
The altitude of Terra Alta, located about 350 meters above sea level, Mediterranean climate with continental tendency, scarce rains and strong sunlight make wines in the region are strong, male and considerable structure. The production of the twelve towns in the region is covered by the Terra Alta certificate of origin.
Among the wines of the certificate of origin, include the white grenache, a variety that defines the appearance of oenology of Terra Alta, because a third of world production of the grapes comes from vineyards of Terra Alta. The "Terra Alta Garnatxa blanca" are distinguished by their yellow color, with shades that swing·from pale·to golden, a subtle nose and high intensity of flavors in the mouth. A color and a flavor that, away from stereotypes, do not give up authenticity that gives its Mediterranean origin.
Red wines, in general, are powerful and rugged, a very loud colour, with some fruity aftertaste, and they are made with "carinyena" and "garnatxa" classic variety. The grape harvest, in the middle of September, is a good excuse to get close to Terra Alta.

. Its quality has been recognized in prestigious national and international competitions, and rigorous specialized guides give them high marks.
To have a view of the sector, in Gandesa you can visit the Cultural Center of Wine and Oil of Terra Alta, located in the Wine and Olive Oil Place, headquarters of DO Terra Alta. The facility has a wine cellar with more than 140 wines and oils, interpretation center, auditorium for activities related to the culture of wine and tasting classroom.
