The Battle of the Ebro was an event in which the life and ideals of many people were tragically at stake. The memory of these events has been collected in different areas of this permanent exhibition. The night of Sant Jaume is the introductory area and it transports us, through feelings, to spaces of the battle. The passage of the river explains the objectives of both armies, while "Preparations of the offensive" and " 115 days of fighting" narrate the battle, attending to military, political and territorial factors. The last day reflects about the republican defeat and the exile, and, finally, "The wounded land" and "Make memory, make future" appeal·to the reflection and emotions to promote the reconciliation with our past.

The trenches were the key for the republican army, and especially in the Battle of the Ebro when they had to defend stable positions for lots of 115 days of fighting.
Both exhibition areas make us feel and understand how the life of fighter determined:
Being a soldier attends to the fundamental activities of the battle, how to defend, attack or monitor.
Being a person instructs us·about daily life when there weren't clashes: how was the personal hygiene? How did the soldiers eat, drink or write?

While Franco supporters were adapting the preexisting sanitary system, the republicans had to innovate it to supply material shortages.
The space has four areas:
Woundeds in front, about the attention in the battlefield; War Medicine, showing the republican innovations; Sanitary staff, about ways to mobilize this contingent and, finally, Two opposing units, comparing the sanitary attention of the 35th republican division to the 50th Francoist division.

How did the press affect the battle? What messages did they use? The five areas of space prepare answers:
Inside the front, shows the slogans of political commissioners and priests; Among the enemy fronts, propaganda that asked for desertions in the other side. Between the front and the rear is the communication between soldiers and civilians; At the rear, asks for news by civilians. Finally, among abroad and the battle analyzes how was the international opinion about the conflict.

For the government of the Republic the offensive of the Ebro carried out with the clear objective, among others, to resist awaiting the outbreak of a conflict at the European level. In fact, international participation had always had an uneven role in the clashes between both sides. The center, is divided in three areas: The fast internationalization, The dimensions of international participation and, finally, The Munich Pact and the outcome of the conflict.
