GANDESA. TERRA ALTA DENOMINATION OF ORIGIN
The town of Gandesa, located in the heart of Terra Alta, is the capital of the region of Terra Alta and its district is one of the largest production area of the DO “Terra Alta”. The viticulture activity is notable and there are several wineries in the center town, among which it is necessary to highlight the "Celler Cooperatiu" of Gandesa, one of the 7 wonders of Catalonia, founded in 1919 and modernist work by the architect Cèsar Martinell, disciple of the master Antoni Gaudí. These facilities make a reference to the "Consell Regulador" for visitors.
CORBERA D’EBRE. THE PLOT AND VALLEYS
The viticulture tradition in Corbera d'Ebre is very important and one of the pillar of the economy of the town. Many valleys leave from the heart of Corbera d'Ebre and they connect with the plain of Gandesa or the plateau of Vilalba dels Arcs and La Fatarella. These valleys are in a big part of the vine area of the municipality.
The valleys are frequent geomorphological formations in Terra Alta and vineyards are present, characterized by two slopes and a bottom. In the slopes of the valleys there are gradients, places with more or less slope, little fertile. At the bottom there are deeper and more fertility soils, and viticulturists often prepare these soils to improve the preservation of land and the accumulation of rainwater.
VILALBA DES ARCS. THE PLOT, SUN, "CERÇ" AND "GARBINADA"
Vilalba dels Arcs has the viticulture as its economic force and it has several registered wineries in the DO Terra Alta. The cooperative spirit is well rooted and it includes much of the production of the town. However, it is also important the role of family farms that produce their own wines.
The municipal boundary of Vilalba dels Arcs is located in the highland of Terra Alta, above 400 m above sea level, and it is characterized by an local weather extremer and drier than the mean of towns in DO Terra Alta. Dominant winds are important in the viticulture of DO Terra Alta: "cerç" and "garbinada". The "cerç" is a dry wind from Northeast and it blows gusts that can reach 100 km/h. The action of this wind keeps vines and grapes free of moisture, otherwise there could be fungus. On the other hand, the "garbí" is a sea wild propelled by situations of depression. In Terra Alta the "garbí" (a southwest wind) blows intensely, so it is called "garbinada". The humidity of this wind contributes to balance the hydrological condition of vineyards in periods of drought.
LA POBLA DE MASSALUCA. KNOW THE VINEYARD
La Pobla de Massaluca is a municipality in the production area with a significant presence of vineyards northerly, and where the viticulture activity shares importance with two mediterranean crops in the region: almond tree and olive tree. In addition to attraction of vineyard and wine, Batea also has a special old medieval town center, the "Vila Closa".
One of the key factors to consider in the production of wine are variety of grapes. The "garnatxa blanca" is the flagship vine of the DO Terra Alta, the most traditional and rooted, with an area that exceeds 1.500 hectares and it is equal to 1/3 of the global area of this variety. Among all range of vineyard, the "garnatxa negra" is the biggest production in DO Terra Alta and the second cultivated type after "macabeu".
VALLMAJOR. THE VITICULTURE

Viticulture is defined as the set of agricultural techniques that allow the cultivation of vines with productive purposes, and in case of DO Terra Alta, with oenological or productive purposes of prestigious wine. The practice of an appropriate viticulture always goes with the object of production and, so, the focus of the vineyards are viticulturists and oenologists.

In towns, it is also frequent smell grapes and wine, a smell from wineries and it means, for visitors, a whole sensory experience that will remain in their memory and which will appear in the next wineglass.
